How Location Filters Work

Our location filters let you quickly narrow results by State, County, and City. The filters work hierarchically, meaning each level becomes more specific as you move down.

The Basic Structure

  • State = Broadest

  • County = More specific

  • City = Even more specific

  • Channel = Most specific

The most specific location selected always controls the results.

  • City overrides County.

  • County overrides State.

  • Channel overrides everything.

If you don’t select any location filters, you’ll see results from all locations.

1. No Selection

  • No State, County, or City selected

  • Results include all available locations

2. Selecting State(s)

  • County and City dropdowns update to show only options within those selected States

  • Results include all Counties and Cities within those States

Example:

  • Selected: New Mexico

  • Result: All channels in New Mexico

Multiple selection behavior (AND logic):

  • Selected: New Mexico + Texas

  • Result: All channels in New Mexico AND Texas

3. Selecting Counties

  • City dropdown updates to show only Cities within those Counties

  • Results include only channels in those Counties

  • County selection overrides broader State selections

Example:

  • Selected: New Mexico + Texas + El Paso County, Texas

  • Result: Only channels in El Paso County, Texas

  • Why: County is more specific than State

Multiple selection behavior (OR logic):

  • Selected: Bernalillo County + Santa Fe County

  • Result: Channels in both Counties

4. Selecting Cities

  • Results are limited strictly to those Cities

  • City selection overrides County and State selections

Example:

  • Selected: Bernalillo County + Albuquerque

  • Result: Only channels in Albuquerque

  • Why: City is the most specific level

Multiple selection behavior (OR logic):

  • Selected: Albuquerque + Santa Fe

  • Result: Channels in either City

How Multiple Selections Work

You can select multiple locations at any level. Within the same level, the system uses OR logic:

  • Selecting two States → results from either State

  • Selecting two Counties → results from either County

  • Selecting two Cities → results from either City

  • Selecting two Channels → results from either Channel

Across different levels, the most specific level controls the results.

Key Takeaways

  • Each level narrows the available options below it.

  • Multiple selections expand results within that level (OR logic).

  • The smallest location selected determines what you see.
